Cheese Cake Test Run

Image
I believe I have successfully made this cheese cake test run to formally bake another one for my partner's 26th birthday.  Yeay. One more to add to the accomplishment list! Home made cheese cake! Get a bunch of girls to gather around for a cooking experiment after a good day working and it's all good fun filled evening of laughter and good results. This is why I love making food, I think. It just fills the gap quick. It's also cool having friends who bake.  I am a terrible baker so I need all the tips I can get.  I cook well ( I like to think so, anyway) but baking, is just something that I struggle. Or maybe I just get lazy with precise measurements. I dont know. My old high school friend, who has been staying in Ireland over seven years, however, had perfected her skills and more than willing to share with the rest of us archi geeks. Even after I haven't seen her in over ten years, we still had heaps in common. And it's not awkward at all like I imagined it w...

Cookies and Paint

Another slow day in Christchurch and I am left to entertain myself while procrastinating to proceed my research. Its over a month since I started my course and I have yet to settle on a proper research topic. I was reading and sketching ideas but I just have not yet made up my mind. What better ways than making cookies...and keep my spirits high. I am going to make enough for a whole soccer team. Miniature men in image of L, D and B.  The boys will eat anything after the game. Especially if they lose again. Haha. Evil me. I just hope my dear boyfriend stay cool enough not to break another rib. He's too hot headed at times even if he won't admit it. Danny was nice enough to leave sweet Miffy for me to play with while all of them are out. Especially with the creepy neighbour always peering at the windows, Miffy barking seems to do the trick. I shall make some in Miffy's image too. Little yummy ginger-cinnamon cookies. :)Yellow for their soccer jerseys this year. I ho...

:::Blue November

It's official. Moonsoon season settings itself in. . Water drops. One. Three. Six. And then it pours. Yes. I am drenched. Diluted acidic smell filled my nostrils. I used to like rain. I dont know. I think I still do. Sometimes. Depending on my geographic locations. Or whether or not I am walking with important soluble documents in my hands. Its not as dark as the the streets of Wellington anymore, now that I am back in the tropics. Less wind, too. It is still very blue, nonetheless. Oh yes. There goes the thunder.

::The one with Breakfast Quest ::

"Are we there yet?" my impatient companion asked for the fifth time in the last fifteen minutes. I turned to him and shrugged my shoulders. Driving through the LDP Highway, even at 10 am on a Sunday Sunday morning, proved to be quite a challenge. My fingers were already drumming on the steering wheel, mentally willing the other cars to move away. Times like these, I miss the convenient walks of Wellington City where every cafe is literally 2 minutes away from each other... "I'm hungry..."another groan escapes his lips. I dont blame him really. Only Malaysians living in Klang Valley-PJ area can tolerate tedious routes. Its not every day that I find myself craving for a good 'roti jala'. Ummm...yumm.. just thinking about the 'Kuzi" gravy making me more hungry. I really just want to share this delight with my partner who's visiting all the way from Land of the white cloud.

Enough said.

::Back Again

It was a bumpy, long, ride home. I was more than restless when the plane touched down in Kuala Lumpur International Airport. So much to do, so much to do... While waiting for bags, my mind was shifting from people's faces and the list of tasks I knew I needed to do right away. Let's see... ...1. Check emails ...2. Hug mum ...3. Nail the interview.. ...4. find a way to not live at home.... yeah right? 'Chill,' I told myself. Chill . More sternly. God. It will be alright. You are an adult. You are 27 year old woman. Just Chill, girl! The Airport didn't feel at all welcoming. It felt very, very foreign. Like I was foreign. Perhaps it was  I that had changed. I couldn't see Dad after I was done at the immigration point. I wondered if again, they had forgotten me. It was not uncommon being among a big family unit. Surely enough, after twenty minutes perusing the shops for last minute chocolate gifts for the kids I hear my name called. It wa...
