Sleeping drugs

Image
It is almost about three months on my current doctor's observation and I still need all the help I can get to ensure a good night's sleep and manage my stress level. A sleeping disorder, they say.  Possibly to do subconscious issue I had to deal with. Ha Ha.What a laugh. I don't really have any pressing issues.  Not lately anyway. All issues are all dealt and done. The drugs are helping no doubt, but I try not to take it every day. It knocks me out cold within 5-10 minutes, no problem. Alternatively however, I would lie in bed for hours, with my laptop playing 'Criminal Minds' or 'Vampire Diaries' or 'How I met your mother'  in hopes to drift to sleep to their voices, but I think in the end it just over stimulates my brain.  So yes. I think that sums up why I have been rather quiet at work this whole week, as pointed out by WH and WY. I find it sweet that my colleagues are quick to notice my ...

NZ World vs Malaysia World

Ok. My job will be a lot more easier when specifying and assigning things into my designs if websites were concise, clear and to the point like this: instead of I understand we are yet to get there but with everyone on the street with personal ipads, blackberry, all other tablets possibly on the market (this includes the suppliers coming over to sell their products), surely one person will be smart enough to develop a library or an app( as the slang goes) for products available out there. Sigh. Come on. Get with the program KL!

Making Models and Mock ups

Image
I miss the times when I spent hours scouting for the cheapest model boards, spray paints  and experimenting on 5 different types of adhesives to make sure that my skins stays intact after the model stands. Nearly lost two fingers in one night from cutting plastic boards, but thats mostly due to lack of sleep. There was also a rough struggle with the Wellington wind whenever I had to transport my model from the flat to studio. To date, I have at least 10 of them stacked in the storage room at my parent's place. Dusty. Still standing tho. Its a shame to see all those years of practice just remaining a distant memory. I feel bit sad. We should make more models in the office. Or at least just dust the existing ones.

The Necessary Evil

Midst of another hectic Monday afternoon in the office, my phone vibrating like mad on my desk was not something unusual. Especially after last weeks' emergency client meeting, there were quite a few things that needed to be updated and reconfirmed with the rest of the party. I assumed it was one of the contractor's team as they had been calling and emailing non stop since before the weekend even started, and possibly wanting to know if the weekly meeting still proceeds despite the halt. Imagine my surprise to hear back from a role I had applied for over four months ago... Wow. Four months . Really? I didn't even realize so much time has passed since I landed back here in the tropics.Writing it down makes it suddenly very real. Back in December, I wasn't even sure if I'd stick around longer than February. I had been looking around for jobs but I was also still very much in holiday mode and had just rejoined my ex-research mates along with my mas...

Lunch at home with the kids

Image
No, they aren't my kids. People are quick to assume if I say I was 'hanging out with the kids,' automatically means it's my kids. I had been saying that since I was 12, and its just somehow become a routine. Mainly because my other six sibling were, in fact, kids then. And now, almost 18 years later, even with my youngest sister turning 14...they still and will always be little kids to me. But today, I am referring to my cousin's kids. Lovely little kids with big cuddles.
